THE RESEARCH

From humble beginnings with a candle making starter kit we began researching and developing various methods of candle and wax tart  melt production. We analyzed many different fragrances and started to develop our own techniques for creating the very best melts you can buy.

After sourcing various different types of wax, from paraffin to soya wax, we then began sourcing, what is now, a fully developed range of amazing Scents. After deciding on our initial ‘launch range’ of 6 Scents it was time to start production, working through many different wax to Scent ratios.

OUR STORY

Finding the perfect ratios of wax to Scent was a long process, but eventually we settled on a winning formula of 10% Scent to wax for that perfect balance (bettering our biggest competitor who use 7%). Scents, ratios and production techniques decided upon, it was time to start production on the branding of the business.

Brand name decided, creation of the brand logo was started, being a graphic designer James had no problem creating our brand image. Working through many ideas we needed a brand identity that reflected the ‘homemade’ range of products, had a feminine slant to it and captured the fun, fragrant essence of the brand.

Careful consideration was given to the end product and it’s packaging size, so as to have legibility across all marketing mediums. Brand identity finalized, all packaging sourced, ingredients and ratios determined the final hurdle of the business start up was to produce marketing material and a website.

Careful consideration was taken on the brand name, dreamed up by Sam, we decided on the Deliciousmelts.co we felt this had just the right amount of a ‘homemade’ feel as well as conveying exactly what the product is.

THE BRANDING

Not being a website designer meant James was starting from scratch as far as creation of a website and what a steep learning curve it has been, from a humble static design to what is

now a fully functional website with online ordering facilities, PayPal checkout and an invoicing system we finally have the full package.

Always Place your Wax Tarts in a well ventilated, oil burner and never add water. These come in a variety of styles - Some use tea lights or low wattage bulbs and some are electric.

Do not allow the flame to touch the underside of the melt bowl (part where the wax tart sits). There should be at least a two inch clearance or it could catch on fire.

Never use an oil warmer, heat on a stove or use any other non-certified tart appliance; they get too hot!

Sam :

I proudly dreamed up the company name and I am the head ‘cook’ in charge of the creation of all melts from measuring raw wax through to adding fragrance, pouring and package finishing. Im also in charge of the numbers, keeping a track of all expenditure and book balancing.

James :

A graphic designer by profession. B.A. (Hons) in Graphic Design with over 15 years experience.I designed everything from the company logo right through to the packaging of the individual melts. We wanted the brand to shout ‘homemade’ and both the packaging and brand logo needed to communicate this.

Simply place a Wax Tart in one of our Oil Burners (or your own), light an Unscented Tea Light inside the burner and enjoy the beautiful fragrance around your home.
Wax tarts make a great alternative to traditional candles and can even be used without melting. Place them in your wardrobes and cupboards to gently fill the space with beautiful aroma! (Be careful they are not touching anything that could spoil when it has contact with wax).

HELPFUL INFORMATION

Wax tarts are basically scented wax (candles) without a wick and all you do is melt them in an oil burner. The tarts get heated and fill the room (or whole house) with aroma. They were originally created because chandlers (the old English term for candle makers) were searching for something to do with their left over wax after pouring candles. Due to their "pastry tart-like" shape, they became commonly referred to as "tarts". However, nowadays they come in many different shapes and are also called - wax melts, scent chips, candle melts, candle tarts, or wax potpourri melts.

HOW TO USE YOUR

DELICIOUS MELTS

Do not heat if the melting bowl contains less than 1/2" of wax. This could result in black soot being emmited from the burner.
